Libraries are the main storage unit for archived documents.

They correspond directly to a file directory visible to the operating system.

Documents are stored inside a library in compressed and encrypted format and cannot be viewed by opening them at the operating system level.

Edit / Add Libraries Form

In a blank form you can enter a full library path and file name or use the menu-bar icons.

New Library         Find a Library

A library name entered without a path will be added or resolved from the default archiving path which is the arc/  folder in the UnForm server main install directory.

When entering a new library path name into a blank form, pressing the <Enter> key acts the same as the <Update> button at the bottom of the form.

'Help' is displayed underneath the library property fields on the browser page, and is reproduced here for reference:

Default permissions apply to any user who does not have specific permissions assigned.

A locked library cannot be modified. Effectively, write and delete permissions are removed for all users.

Forced sequencing prevents inadvertent overwriting of document images by adding a sequencer to all sub IDs.

ALIASES -- New in version 8.0

Aliases are alternate library pathnames, one per line. If a library has been moved to a new disk location, hard-coded links to documents in that library will fail. By providing former disk pathnames as aliases, such invalid links will be modified dynamically to target this library.

CATEGORY -- New in version 8.0

Libraries assigned to a given category are listed under the designated category header when searching and browsing libraries. This can be helpful in cases where there are many libraries, some of which might be rarely used.

Note: deleting a library doesn't physically delete the archive data from the server. It simply removes the library name from the list of libraries. If a library should be physically deleted, the data files must be removed from the library path using the server's operating system. The files are /library/path/store.*, including all sub-directories in store.img.
